Farmer's Market Produce Pick - Peaches

So summer is here...or fleeting. Either way you look at it, glass half full or completely empty, we have an over abundance of beautiful and delicious produce!! Every Saturday in West Chester we have our very own grower's market. Humble as it may be it has been going strong for 15 years.

Read more about it here http://www.westchestergrowersmarket.com/index.html

So I came home last weekend with a bag full of goodies.

So, for now, I will post a recipe for each of my fantastical farmer's market finds. Enjoy kids.

Maple Glazed Peach Parfait
3 peaches - sliced
3 T. pure maple syrup
1/2 t. cinnamon
1 T. butter
1/2 c. granola
1 c. vanilla ice cream or gelato
2 T granola (optional for garnish)

- In a small saucepan on medium heat add butter and peaches, simmer for a few minutes and add maple syrup and cinnamon. Cover and simmer approximately 4 more minutes.

- While the peaches simmer, in a parfait or drinking glass layer the bottom of the glass with half the granola.

- When the peaches are done, remove from heat but keep the lid on.
Add the ice - cream or gelato.

We use Talenti Tahitian Vanilla Bean.....AMAZING!!!!!

- Layer the ice - cream on top of the granola and add approx. 1/2 cup of the peach mixture with juices on top.  Sprinkle with remaining granola if desired.

*WARNING* Ice - cream/ gleato will melt fast so serve and eat immediately!!!

Until next time...eat, love, live and eat some more.

  1. Since peaches you have, some peach suggestions I will make... both recipes might sound weird, but I am pretty sure you will like them.

    Peachy Burritos
    peaches, peeled and sliced
    black beans
    cilantro- lots!
    red onion- diced
    fresh tomatoes- seeded and diced
    extra sharp cheddar cheese
    avocado- cubed
    whole wheat tortilla

Basically combine ingredients and roll a burrito- the peach goes surprisingly well with the other flavors.

    Peach Grilled Cheese

thick sliced awesome bread (no Giant brand loaf, get something good)
    EVOO
    peaches, peeled and sliced
    fresh mozzarella
    pesto

lightly brush outside of bread slices with EVOO.
brush inside with pesto. add mozz and peaches... grill to perfection.
